Subject for Contemplation...

If there was one delight that the artist that created The Collection of Indigenous American Art relished, it was desire to integrate multiple images into a single composition. Actually they loved ambiguity. An art work was a subject for contemplation at length! Often several characters interact, literally gesturing before the observer. Each time that the viewers eyes move another character or gesture appears. If the work is rotated, once again a new set of characters is very likely to become visible in any position selected.

Such control over the pictorial window did not develop by chance, in fact the amazing consistency from one artist work to another suggest that there were no doubt rigid academic organizations, who's job it was to jury and judge the selected artist and their work.
